About Intergroup
Service Committees are some of the ways that we carry the message to other Alcoholics in the community. Each of the committees described below has a specific focus and all of them can use your help in carrying the message in their own unique ways.

For more information on any of the following committees, either attend one of the regular Committee meetings listed below or call the Metrolina Intergroup Office at 704-377-0244.

Treatment Facilities Committee

The purpose of the Treatment Facilities Committee is to coordinate the service work of individual A.A. members and groups who are interested in carrying the message of A.A. recovery to alcoholics in treatment facilities, and to set up means of "bridging the gap" from the facility to an A.A. group in the individual's community. A treatment facilities committee may function within the structure of a general service committee on the area or district level or it may serve within the structure of the central office/Intergroup.

Since hospitals and treatment facilities do not permit unauthorized visitors to enter their facilities, the first step is to establish contact with administrators. Treatment facility meetings differ from those of the regular A.A. groups. They are A.A. meetings held for patients and residents, and they are usually not open to A.A.s in the community. A.A. members are sometimes invited to arrange these meetings for the patients, and these members often bring in one or two other speakers. This means that A.A. is a guest in the house of the facilities and A.A. has to abide by the facilities rules.

If you would like to get involved in the Treatment Facilities Committee please come to one of our regular meetings.

When: 2nd Saturday of Every Month at 9:30am
Where: Metrolina Intergroup Office, 1427 South Blvd., Ste 106

Correctional Facilities Committee

The purpose of the Correctional Facilities Committee is to coordinate the work of individual A.A. members who are interested in carrying our message of recovery to alcoholics behind the walls, and to set up means of smoothing the way from the facility to the larger A.A. community through prerelease contacts.

A correctional facilities committee may function within the structure of a General Service Conference area committee or a central office/Intergroup. In A.A.'s early years, prison Twelfth Step work was usually done by an individual group or an individual member. As A.A. has grown, however, it seems that a committee formed within the A.A. service structure works more effectively.

When: Last Sunday of every month at 4:30pm
Where: Metrolina Intergroup Office, 1427 South Blvd., Ste 106

Cooperation with the Professional Community and Public Information Committee (CPC/PI)

CPC/PI Committee is to provide accurate A.A. information to the public when requested. The committee visits schools, businesses and community meetings for this purpose. They also serve as resources for our friends in the local media, emphasizing our Traditions of anonymity, singleness of purpose and no affiliation, as well as offering A.A. public service announcements to radio and television stations.

If you would like to learn more or be involved with our CPC/PI Committee- please come to one of our regular meetings

When: Fourth Saturday of odd months at 10:00am
